Jen Helton's TEAM IN TRAINING pledge page!
Hey all! I am glad you found me! For those of you who haven't heard, I am crazy enough to try this whole half marathon thing again! I am currently training for the Nike Half Marathon celebrating women's achievements. This means I'll be taking on the hills of San Francisco. It should definitely be interesting. I completed the Oklahoma City Memorial (Half)Marathon last year to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Since then, I have come into contact with numerous people who have either have the disease, or has a loved one who does. I can't seem to shake the need to support the research for a cure for this disease. It has hit really hard in the past six months. I have had a student diagnosed with Leukemia, as well as a family friend who lost her battle with it. I am walking in honor of my honored hero's: Josh, Hillary, and Meg. Hillary was my honored hero when I did Oklahoma, and has been symptom free for 5 years. Josh is 15 and Meg is 25 and both are fighting this disease tooth and nail. At least 75% of all money raised goes directly back into research and treatment for this life threatening disease. I will update my site with pictures and journal entries as often as possible. All donations can be given through me and every little bit helps! This race is going to be both mentally and physically challenging for me (you know how those San Fran hills are), so mucho prayer would be great! Thank you all for being such important people in my life. God Bless!
